Meet Alyssa Payne

Yoga Teacher in Phoenix

A Practice Rooted in Presence

Born in Charleston, West Virginia, Alyssa joined the United States Air Force in 2017. Yoga entered her life in 2018 through quiet Sunday morning practices with friends and quickly became much more than a physical discipline.
What first drew her to yoga was its ability to cultivate a sense of steadiness, strength, and calm. Over time, she developed a deep connection with the tradition of Ashtanga Yoga and its emphasis on consistency, discipline, and self-discovery.

Teaching & Continuing Education

Alyssa completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Urban Yoga in 2024 and continues her studies through Cheryl Oliver’s Authentic Yoga Teacher Training program.
As both a teacher and lifelong student, she approaches yoga with curiosity, humility, and respect for the lineage that continues to inspire her practice.
Her classes emphasize breath awareness, mindful movement, and creating a supportive environment where students can explore their practice with confidence.

Beyond the Physical Practice

For Alyssa, yoga is more than movement. It is a practice of presence, awareness, and connection.
She believes that the lessons learned on the mat—patience, resilience, focus, and compassion—have the power to influence everyday life and help us navigate challenges with greater clarity and balance.
Her intention is to help students reconnect with their own inner resources and discover what yoga can offer beyond the physical postures.
