About Yogiwalkie

What is Yogiwalkie ?

The YogiWalkie is a fun, adaptable outdoor yoga walk that combines walking and yoga as a journey towards our inner self. It’s suitable for everyone, adapts to the seasons, without needing a mat.

The origin

In 2011, the YogiWalkie was created in France by Peggy Menager, a yoga practitioner. She wanted to bring the practice out of the studios to enjoy the combined benefits of yoga and walk in the nature. She also aimed to emphasize that practicing asanas is just one part of yoga.

The method

The YogiWalkie is a two-hour session. During this time, we journey through the entire body and free the mind from the unnecessary. Just like in a yoga class, we engage the body in connection with the breath. Various aspects of yoga, such as the five senses, balance, concentration, coordination of movements, and more, are incorporated into the YogiWalkie.

Benefits of YogiWalkie

Practicing outdoors amplifies the power of certain exercises through the following process:

  • Endorphins, the “happiness hormones,” are released during physical activity.
  • Serotonin, the “pleasure hormone,” is released when we are in contact with nature and increases with sunlight.
  • Levels of adrenaline and cortisol (the stress hormone) decrease, positively impacting blood pressure and heart rate, keeping them low.
  • We also stimulate the production of vitamin D, which strengthens our cardiovascular system and bones.

BENEFITS OF walking

Walking is called “living walking” because it can be integrated into our lifestyle just like eating to stay healthy and breathing to live.

We need to walk to stimulate our body. When practiced daily, walking activates our vital functions and optimizes our overall well-being.
